Hard water messes up our kettles, showers, and now I find out it affects our hair! What the..
I live in Sarrfff London and the water around here can come out cloudy. So I started thinking does water have an impact on ya barnet.
The short answer is yes.
So what happens I hear you ask? Well it actually has an affect on the appearance. Minerals in hard water mix with the shampoo to form salt. This leaves a residue on the surface of your hair and scalp. Minerals build up and hinders hair's overall elasticity, making it more prone to breakage.
I realised it had an effect on my tea but not my hair.. so how can I combat it? Well you can do a few things hun.
Use any vinegar, apple cider is the best. Mix 1 part vinegar to two parts water. Do this once a week after your wash.
Try a clarifying shampoo once a week this will wash away any residue and restore that shine.
Use a really good deep hair mask at least once a week, try and get a mask which contains almonds, coconut or argan oil.
Bathe in Evian (jokes) well if you can afford to do it why the hell not
